IMPACTING THE GLOBE.

THE VISION.

As we travel through stories and life experiences, we aim to foster a greater understanding of the motivations and desires of individuals, communities, and society. More broadly, we aim to be recognized as an international provider of social research and consultancy that contributes to the well-being of the globe.

“The adequate study of culture, our own and those on the opposite side of the globe, can press on to fulfillment only as we learn today from the humanities as well as from the scientists.”

NICE TO MEET YOU.

My name is Tiarra Nabila Simon, and I am the founder and director of Simon Global Consultancy. I was born on the Caribbean island of Aruba and raised and educated in the island’s former colonizer, the Netherlands. In 2015, I received a job opportunity for the position of HR Manager in a company based in Suriname. Curious about the world, I instantly said Yes. The country opened my eyes to its rich culture and heterogeneous population. I immediately felt the urge to explore, dissect, examine and unravel the intricacies of the needs of its society. Two years later, I decided to continue this thread of exploration and started the master’s program Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

SINCE THEN,

I went back to my island to conduct research on the Venezuelan population amidst the political and socio-economic turmoil in their home country • presented my master’s thesis at the conference Sharing Stories of Island Life and Global Engagement • masterfully graduated • got the opportunity to work as an independent research consultant for the United Nations • started my own research and consultancy company • and traveled to different Caribbean countries, including Aruba, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Curaçao, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Maarten, Suriname and Trinidad, and Tobago for research purposes.

The one thing I learned along my journey? Knowledge, derived from a social and cultural context, is key. But also: Say Yes when opportunities arise, pay attention, and always believe in your own potential. Five years later, you might have your own growing company.

THE FORMULA.

There are two important values from which I work: sincere love for the world and the people who inhabit it, and immense passion for my profession. These values have been instilled in me from a very young age. In 1995, my father (A), a hotel sales manager, received a silver award from the American Resort Development Association celebrating “Leading us to Prosperity”. My mother (Q), then a news reporter, interviewed him on his sales and marketing philosophy.
