OUR TEAM’S EXPERIENCES.

During the summer of 2022, I had the wonderful opportunity to participate as a student research assistant in a project for Simon Global Consultancy. For three months, I contributed to research for IOM on the theme of Migration. I am a Cultural Anthropology student finishing off my Bachelor this year, and the experience I gained during the summer allowed me to develop the ability to read policy documents and improve my transcription and data analysis skills. Learning how to write and edit documents and use anthropological knowledge to understand and analyse real-world problems was a lot of fun, and these are skills I will take with me into my future employment. And the support and encouragement I got from Tiarra during this process was the biggest motivator. I am so glad I said Yes to this opportunity to work with Simon Global Consultancy!

Update: Suzy has found her passion for
population studies, heritage and
material culture.

“As a research assistant at Simon Global Consultancy, I was pleased to have contributed to three IOM/UN Migration projects on migration governance in 2021. At that time, I was still writing my master’s thesis in Social and Cultural Anthropology. With Tiarra’s guidance, I created an efficient plan to finish my thesis, while working as her assistant. For three months, I experienced how I can utilize anthropology and research in the field. These experiences were incredibly valuable for my growth as I learned how to write informative chapters for government policy-oriented reports. Working with Tiarra was also great because she treated me equally, and she always took the time to answer my questions. This management approach stimulated me to give a hundred percent on the job.

Unfortunately, as I signed a temporary contract, my work for Simon Global Consultancy came to an end. Still, I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity because I got a taste of a work environment that interests me immensely. As I am awaiting the results of my thesis, I can honestly say it was one of my better decisions to say Yes to Simon Global Consultancy! “

Update: Congratulations, Manisha, for graduating with a 7.5! You have done a wonderful job of managing both your studies and work.

Working as an assistant for Simon Global Consultancy was an incredible professional opportunity for me. It gave me the chance not only to apply my academic competencies to a work environment but also to do so in a stimulating context where individuals were treated with respect and empathy. Dr. Simon was able to provide me with guidance and support while teaching me how to simultaneously cover the challenging double role of researcher and consultant. During our work together, she led through example and organized a team where everyone’s strengths were not only incentivized, but also used as a tool for peer formation. Dr. Simon’s approach helped me develop professionally and personally. I feel very lucky to have worked with her and I hope to do so again in the future!
